Congratulations to all the participants at our VQ Inspired Mixology Challenge last night. Sponsored by Rebel City Distillery and hosted by The Dean Hotel Cork, eight mixologists from across the VQ battled for the winning title.
The colour, flavour and storytelling made for a fantastic evening, thanks to the VQ mixologists from across the competing venues: The Address Cask The Dean Hotel The Glass Curtain The Montenotte Moxy Hotels The Shelbourne Bar Cork and Paladar.
The cocktails used either Maharani Gin or Maharani Pomelo Vodka as their base, and the theme for the evening was ‘Inspired by the Stories of Legendary Cork Women’.
The creativity, imagination and skill on show were truly inspiring! The tributes ranged from cocktails made to honour mythical Irish queens, to celebrations of the food producers and traders of Cork, from Catriona Twomey (Cork Penny Dinners) to actress Fiona Shaw, some of the legendary mothers of the competitors, and a cocktail tribute to Orla McAndrew.
Needless to say, competition judges Liam Maher (The VQ), Bhagya Barrett ,MBA, B.Eng (Rebel City Distillery) and Lorna Horgan (96FM and Cork 103FM) had a very difficult job in judging the winners!
Huge congratulations to Adam, from Paladar, who took home top prize, and to Luke at the Moxy and Oliver from the Dean who took second and third places respectively.
